MARCH 2008

Welcome to the outdoor jumping season!

The first heights jumping of the season was a huge success with a great turnout at both days. Congratulations to all runners and riders that took part. We were extremely lucky with the weather and missed the gales by hours rather then days.

A big thank you to the committee for all their hard work in getting the field, jumps and amenities prepared and all that helped out over the two days to make our first events such a success. The result of these two days can be viewed on our new BSJA webpage.

THE BUS

The internal preparation of the bus is moving on and we will soon be starting the process of painting internally and externally. If anyone is willing to help out for an odd hour here and there please call call Jeremy Phillips on 07797718783.

MAKEOVER

All those that attended the first jumping weekend at the field will have noticed the hard work that Abbie Hosegood and the crew from Fauvic nursery have put in to freshen up the area around the Clubhouse and canteen. I think you will all agree that this has brightened the place up greatly.

 HELPERS

Some members have mentioned that they require a little more notice when being asked to do their bit for their club and help out.

To aid this we have introduced helpers duty charts so that you have the opportunity to put your name down early. At each and every event these will be there for forthcoming events. Please fill these in with your Helper duties.

By doing this not only can you choose your preferred time and duty, it also helps to make the task of “manning” events far easier.

We reiterate the fact that this year we shall be operating a strict policy of no help, no entries accepted – so please get calling now – the sessions will operate in the same way they did last year.

CANTEEN HELP

Anybody who might consider doing a shift in the canteen, please contact Marina on 07797733099. Jo O'Brien and Marina are offering short training sessions for any members willing to help just in case you are unsure about finding your way around the canteen – without your help – we’ll go hungry.

 FUTURE EVENTS

The cancelled heights jumping from the weekend of 15th and 16th March shall be re-scheduled, however it is as you know subject to the weather forecast.  Please keep your eye on the main page of the webpage for any notifications.

Should you be in any doubt on the day please call the Clubhouse number on 863926.

 NEW WEBSITE

We hope you are finding your way around the new website, if you have any comments in this regard, they would be gratefully received through our  “forum” page whereby you can air your views and which seems to be working very well so far.

FUND RAISING

We are trying to get to a stage that we will be jumping on an all weather arena in the near future. This is an expensive exercise and will need take a lot of funding. If anyone has any ideas for fund raising events please contact Jackie Hankin on 07797 720672.

With that in mind if anyone can offer their expertise around the field or its facilities it would be gratefully appreciated. There are a lot of professional people involved in the club and we are after your time and wisdom. If we can keep the work inhouse it will reduce our annual spend and increase the chances of getting the all weather arena in.

That said, if you wish to make a donation towards the all weather arena please speak to our treasurer who will be happy to help out. This can of course be done anonymously.

Should you have any comments queries you can either contact a committee member or post it on our “Forum” site.

HERE HOPING TO BETTER WEATHER IN APRIL!
