FEBRUARY 2008

THE START OF THE SEASON AND A BLUE BUS!

It’s the end of February and welcome to the 2008 season. The Junior and Senior indoor jumping was a roaring success and congratulations to all those who attended.

As some may have noticed when parked in, or passing the BSJA field recently, we have purchased a double-decker bus to replace both the secretaries box and the judges box. The existing Judges box had reached a point when it was uneconomical to repair, so our view was to kill two birds with one stone and bring the secretary's area closer the judges box at the same time. The outlay for this was halved due to the generous donation of £1,500 from a benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous. (If we have any more out there please give me a ring!)

There is a lot of work needed to get this prepped and fitted out for the coming season but work is progressing well.

The existing secretary’s box will be moving down to the collecting ring so that we have somewhere dry to store both the paperwork and the collecting ring steward!

Now I am sure that there are some who will say we are copying Guernsey in our approach with this bus, but I don’t think we should be afraid of imitation and improvement if the idea works!

We are reaching the stage where we need as much help as possible to get the field and facilities prepared for the first outdoor jumping events. Please feel free to contact any of the committee members if you have a spare hour here or there to help or if you have any special talents you can offer!

So the season is upon us and has reached us at some pace. Keep your eyes peeled for further updates on our new website and I look forward to seeing you over the coming weeks.”

  HELPERS

Please don’t see this task as a punishment! We need you to help so that the club runs smoothly, therefore if your forte is in the kitchen please offer your culinary services, or maybe you prefer to organise from the Secretary’s Box or perhaps you’d prefer offering your man power in the Arena or down at the Collecting Ring, whatever your prefence please contact Marina with your offer of help on 07797733099 before she calls YOU!

The updated helper points will soon be added to the new website and  Liz and Marina shall be bringing out a postcard system with helper duties allocated. It will be up to the person allocated a job to find a replacement if they can't perform the duty. If members would let them know their prefered jobs it would help. Please email Liz on lizmoon@jerseymail.co.uk or Marina on camaugerltd@jerseymail.co.uk  with your preference

We must point out that this year we shall be operating a strict policy of no help, no entries accepted – so please get calling now – the sessions will operate in the same way they did last year.
